Admiralty

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (Admiralty) is leading the transformation to digital chart navigation. Through its Admiralty products and services, mariners now have access to more than 11,250 Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCs), including coverage of over 2,900 worldwide ports − in addition to over 3300 Standard Nautical Charts.

As Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) grow in popularity, and in advance of the IMO's introduction of mandatory ECDIS carriage, starting in 2012, we anticipate that more than 500,000 mariners will need training over the next 8 years and will continue to work closely with shipping companies, training colleges and crewing agencies to support the challenges of navigation in the modern world and ensure the safety of life at sea.
