Port Operator Award

This award recognises the company or port authority that has maintained the highest standards of operational efficiency and customer service throughout the year. This award is open to any international port or terminal operator that can demonstrate exceptional innovation, improved efficiency, profitability or successful investment in port operations. Judges will be looking for evidence of a sustained commitment to customer service, cost and operational efficiency as well as an outstanding safety and environmental record.

Ship Operator Award

This award recognizes the shipowner or operator that has demonstrated excellence in the operation of its ship(s) over the past year. Judges will be looking for an exemplary record of achievement in terms of business development, safety, efficiency, reliability and of course profitability. This award is open to any shipowner or operator across all sectors.

Supported by Lloyd’s List since 1999, this award has become one of the most prestigious international awards for the crew of a vessel participating in the Amver global ship reporting system that has shown extraordinary courage and seamanship.

This award will go to a company with an exceptional commitment to improving safety standards in the shipping industry. The award is open to companies across all sectors which can demonstrate robust and effective improvements to their operations at sea or ashore. Judges will be looking for examples of safety innovation, investment in safety training and proven reductions to accident rates.

This award goes to a company for outstanding commitment in training its employees ashore or at sea or a company or institution that can demonstrate a contribution towards improving training standards across the maritime industry as a whole. Judges will be looking for examples of investment in new facilities and courses, innovative training solutions and a sustained and effective approach to developing quality staff in the maritime sector.

Maritime Lawyer of the Year

This award celebrates the very best in the legal profession and will go to the individual lawyer or law firm that has offered the best service to the maritime industry over the past 12 months. Judges will be looking for exemplary expertise and commitment to the shipping industry as well as looking for clear examples of innovation where lawyers have played a crucial role in notable cases, restructuring, dispute resolution or finance.

Corporate Social Responsibility Award

This Award celebrates excellence in corporate, social, ethical and environmental activity, and seeks to identify the company or organisation that best exemplifies the social and community spirit which is at the core of the shipping industry. The award is open to all maritime companies or organisations that can present evidence of a compelling CSR policy that has made a meaningful and positive difference.

Environment Award

This award honours the institution, company or individual that has done the most to reduce the pollution of our oceans from maritime sources. The contribution could include, but is not restricted to, ship design, company-wide environmental policy, or successful policy effort on the part of a public official with maritime responsibility.

This award recognises the innovative and integral achievements of the shipping industry's financiers and bankers. The award will go to the bank, company or financial institution that can best demonstrate how their services helped the shipping industry forge ahead in a capital constrained market.

Seafarer of the Year

This award recognises the skill, bravery and professionalism that the industry’s seafarers demonstrate on a daily basis. We are looking for nominations of crew of all ranks who have shown leadership, courage and vision while at sea over the past 12 months. Judges will welcome nominations from individuals or shipping companies putting forward any member of the crew, from ratings to masters.

This category celebrates success. Judges will be looking for the shipping company that was best able to innovate and adapt to the rapidly changing nature of the shipping markets over the past 12 months and profit as a result. Shipping companies from all sectors are invited to submit entries that reveal why their operation should be named the Lloyd’s List Shipping Company of the Year. Judges will be looking for success stories that demonstrate advancements in strategy, profitability and efficiency.

Newsmaker of the Year

The senior staff of Lloyd’s List editorial team will select a person from shipping or one of its service industries that has influenced a major aspect of the news agenda. Lifetime Achievement Award (Maritime Hall of Fame)

This award recognises an individual that has, over the course of his or her career, contributed to the well-being of the industry in a profound way. The Lloyd's List editorial panel welcomes submissions on behalf of candidates for this award, however nominations will also be put forward by the Lloyd's List editorial team and the panel of judges. This year for the first time, all previous winners of the award will be inducted into the Lloyd's List Maritime Hall of Fame.
